ciaran: I made a mock-up of an idea. I showed it to someone else and we all think it's great. In the last strip, Linus's statement should be split between two speech bubbles (the first eding at "perspective").

JohnLeach: ok, good start, thanks. The pacing isn't right though and it needs a bit of work. What I normally do is lay the script out here on the wiki, makes it easier to work with, like so. I'll work on it, but in the mean time do you mind if I create a fan art section and put your strip online?

ciaran: putting it in a fan art section would be fine - although if it's to be made into a strip, it would probably be best to wait until the strip is published so that the jokes don't get spoiled by being published in their current not-quite-funny-enough form. (fan name: CiarĂ¡n O'Riordan (if that's the policy)) I'll try to participate in / comment during the drafting process. Here's a link about GPL being unnecessary.

ciaran: Unsurprisingly, I still think my strip idea is great! :-) If there's a fan art section, that would be fine. Or if the lack of updates has lowered the standards for publication, maybe this can be looked at again.

JohnLeach: I've kinda been trying to lay off esr a bit lately. There has got to be funnier things that him in the FOSS world. Though I do like the strip. I've twiddled it a bit at the bottom, to try make it a bit snappier for the comic format. What do you think?

eric: Hey Linus! I've thought of a compromise for RMS. If "GNU" is changed to "GUN", I'll call the OS "GUN/Linux"

eric: it's a truism that the meanings are identical, even when expanded. GUN expands to "GUN's Unix? uh, No!"

linus: But I thought you didn't like the GNU pro ...uh, GUN project getting credit for the operating system"
eric: "GUN/Linux" represents a paradigm shift, Linus

eric: Since I've declared that the GPL's not necessary any more, I'm promoting the idea of switching to libertarian-style BSD licenses and the use of firearms to protect freedoms

eric: *pointing guns at linus*
eric: Say, have you modified any of my software recently?
linus: Eric, put the guns away! You're losing perspective. I haven't even seen any of your software lately.

eric: Linus, I've thought of a compromise for rms. If GNU is changed to GUN, I'll call the OS GUN/Linux
linus: Didn't you retire? And I thought you didn't approve of the GNU project's ideals

eric: I do think they should switch to libertartian-style BSD licesnes - and the use of firearms to protect freedom
linus: I just don't see how that could possibly work Eric

*later*

rms: holy crap eric, is that Linus' body there? Did you shoot him in the face?
eric: yeah, he, erm... sent me a patch for fetchmail. It was coming right for us.

script twiddle 3

eric: I'd like to announce my new project: GUN/Linux
linus: Didn't you retire?

eric: It's basically just the using a libertartian-style BSD licene. Using firearms to protect freedom.
linus: I just don't see how that could possibly work Eric

*later*

rms: holy crap eric, is that Linus' body there? Did you shoot him in the face?
eric: yeah, he sent me a patch for fetchmail. It was coming right for us.
rms: didn't you retire?
or
rms: people still USE fetchmail?
or
rms: dibs on his sandals
or
rms: dibs on his eyebrows

eric: I'd like to announce my new project: GUN/Linux
linus: Didn't you retire?

eric: It's basically just the using a libertartian-style BSD licene. Using firearms to protect freedom.
linus: I just don't see how that could possibly work Eric

rms: holy crap eric, is that Linus' body there? Did you shoot him in the face?
eric: yeah, he sent me a patch for fetchmail. It was coming right for us.
rms: dibs on his eyebrows

*eric wearing linus' eyebrows - feet up on table wearing sandals with socks*
eric: too late, buddy
