In this strip, rms is showing off his new OLPC laptop, and Eric, jealous about his lack of machine attempts to emulate a child in order to get one

[rms is sitting in front of his OLPC. Eric walks in.]

Eric: Is that one of those laptops for children?

rms: Yes, it runs only free software, and is ideal for my needs. Plus, I can wind it up to charge it, which saves money and power.

Eric: How come I didn't get one?

rms: Didn't you retire?

[Eric is sat at his PC. It is very old and covered in stickers. There's a copy of the Jargon file book next to it.]

(thinks) Hm. Maybe there is a way I can get a machine...

Later

[rms walks in on Eric, dressed as a schoolboy, sending an email]

rms: Eric, we're going for chinese fo.. wtf are you doing?

Eric: Er.. nothing. I'll be right there, just sending this.

[Fourth pane would just be a blow up of his screen, Thunderbird or something which supports HTML email. The email is all in a comic font, and reads...]

Dear Mr Negroponte,

I am a child, who is in desperate need of one of your laptops. I am key to the success of your project, as I maintain the following projects.

Please send the laptop to me as soon as possible. Thank you.

Eric S. Raymond The Flat geekz.co.uk The Intarweb

[Final pane could be a double sized one, with Nicholas Negroponte surrounded by OLPC machines, checking his email on one]

Negroponte: Another email from someone claiming to maintain fetchmail. When will they realise nobody cares about fetchmail?
