This page gives a brief history of me, John Leach. It's unlikely that you are in the slightest bit interested, but here it is anyway. Perhaps it will help me remember this crap when I'm old and decrepid, assuming I get there what with all these radiation emitting computer screens and MSN buddy icons.
My education/indoctrination began at St. Cuthberts and First Martyrs Primary School in Manningham, Bradford (West Yorkshire, United Kingdom). Here I was taught how to pray and often had to wear sandals. Both activities I have since discontinued.
From there I went on to spend a year at Cottingley Manor Secondary School which is now an expensive and exclusive health gym. I wouldn't recommend either the school or the gym, although I'd expect you'd get a better education at the latter.
My education continued at Bradford City Technology College which was later renamed Dixons CTC (now Dixons City Academy). Dixons are/were an electronics retail outlet and sponsored the college purely out of the kindness of their cold black corporate hearts. I did my GCSEs, my GNVQ and an A-level there. All these skills I've used on a daily basis from the moment I accepted my certificates, and they've improved my life in a deep and profound way. Also, I learned how to obey the rules and not to question authority.
Amazingly, the college chose to employ me for a year as "Communications Technology Technician", the meaning of which to this day I am still unsure. They paid me a pittance, but luckily I didn't work very hard.
After this brief stint of employment I then dabbled further with "education". At Bradford University I joined the Electronic Imaging and Media Communication (EIMC) course, the meaning of which to this day I am still unsure. I quickly tired of this and only spent a year there. So I moved on into the world of full time employment, only to find it just as unchallenging.
Since University I've worked with video conferencing, web development, networking technology and IT security.
I now run my own company: Brightbox, a UK based Ruby on Rails focused hosting company.
I grew up in Bradford, West Yorkshire, but moved to Leeds with my girlie Louisa a few years ago (and since moved
back in between).. I live with her, four three mostly black cats,
seven squirrels, some pidgeons, lots of spiders and a big stuffed monkey.
I do lots of stuff. It doesn't really define me as a person though. The car I drive does that for me. And the books I read.
Everything else about me I have decided to publish can be found on the index page or in my blog. No doubt the rest can be turned up using search engines.
