I'm publishing some initial figures here. These are far from extensive.
I've benchmarked MySQL using some of the tests from the MySQL-bench package with both the EXT3 and Reiserfs file systems.
I've already done some tests to compare the performance of RAID5 and RAID10.
The test machine is a Dell Poweredge 1ghz Pentium III Coppermine, 256KB cache, 512MB RAM, with an Adaptec AIC-7899 Ultra 160/m SCSI host adapter. The OS is a standard RedHat Advanced Server 2.1 installtion.
